Long my imprisoned spirit lay,
Fast bound in sin and nature’s night;
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray— I woke,
the dungeon flamed with light;
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

Wilder MIT

Leader:  John Curry
901-240-2534

Wilder MIT mentors incarcerated youth by telling them about Christ through Bible study, mostly one on one. We spend an hour with them each Monday or Tuesday night from 6:00-8:00 PM.  Mentors need to be able to clearly communicate the gospel and be consistent each week.  If you would like more information about Wilder MIT or how to begin the interviewing and screening process to become part of the team, please contact John Curry

Wilder is a male correctional facility consisting of ages 13 – 19 years old. We meet sometimes in the chapel and other times in the individual dorms depending on where they are assigned. This prison houses around 140 or so youth, and consists primarily of inner city Memphis gang members. There is a great need. As you might imagine most of these boys are from broken homes where there is no father present. They are looking for positive male role models.
